Indeed. I may never run out of fascinating things to learn about this place - I can only hope I stay long enough to exhaust my curiosity.

[Grimmchild slips out from under Hubert's hand to go nuzzle at their parent, who begins to pet their head.]

I will return when I am called to do so, and I will fulfill my duty without regret. That said, knowing that my fated death is only a day or so after the point I was called from... does ease the desire to return home quite so soon.

[He's still going to go through with it, because he must, and because it is for the sake of his child. But even he isn't selfless enough to be in a hurry for it.]

There is someone important to me here, and I would hate to leave her alone. I hope we're returned sometime soon, but being by her side is more than enough for me.

[A brief nod, though calling her a "loved one" is... sort of awkward... It's not wrong, just not really in a sense most people mean it...?? Ugh, anyway.]

Her name is... [lady] Edelgard. She is... someone I have been very close to since childhood.

[It's sort of stilted, like he's not really sure that's the best way to put it, but it is true even if it's not revealing the exact nature of their relationship.]

Ah, childhood friends are irreplaceable. I hope to meet her sometime.

My child would like to know if she likes giving pets. A question with no ulterior motive, I am sure.

[That gets his face to do something - it's not quite a smile, but it's a softer expression than he'd usually allow anyone to see, and he quickly steels it back into the usual.]

I imagine she'd find you both very interesting. And yes, I doubt she could resist giving a few pets.

Have they made many, then? I have a hard time imagining them not getting along with someone.

It has been known to happen. They have a tendency to breathe fire on people they find unpleasant.

They have a good eye for someone's intentions toward them. I do recall them attacking a 'banker' that was planning to run off with a dear friend's money.
