[Ardyn had been told he had either a nice voice or a creepy voice. Either way, it had been a voice that had caused comment. People remembered it.
Nothing had changed about it that could easily be identified, and yet there was something deeply alluring about it now. It grabbed attention, seeming musical despite Ardyn making no attempt to make it so. It lilted and purred, each word presented like a gift.
Just a side affect of these new Sanguis changes.]
Hello there, Grimm.
I understand that you're a busy fellow, what with your child having only recently arrived... but if you have a spare moment, I'd like to ask some advice.
[Ardyn's voice is delightful as ever, or perhaps more so. Then again, perhaps Grimm is simply in a better mood as of late, so that everything seems more luminous than before.]
[ It certainly was. Ardyn's Sanguis changes usually left him with scales, but they were a dramatic black that rippled to a red-violet when the light caught them. These scales rippled with prismatic reflection when they caught the light, and swept to his hair line and up towards the horns sweeping back over his hair. Two other horns curled around his face, framing it, and his eyes, always a sharp yellow, were now different shades of gold from sclera, to iris, to pupil.
His wings were folded at his back, but the black bones and purple membrane were just visible even as he took Grimm's invitation and walked in. ]
Isn't it? And here I thought I was getting used to what this place threw at me.
[ The alluring harmonics of his voice were even more obvious in person. So too were the sharp teeth when he spoke. ]]
[ He could have ripped the wings from his back, torn the horns from his head, and plucked each scale out one by one. The pain would be nothing to his outrage at becoming anything like a dragon. Hateful lizards.
None of it showed on his face as Grimm complimented him. Ardyn smiled, raised his claws, and doffed his cap as he gave a small bow. His wings unfurled then, massive things, stretching easily from wall to wall. The black was firm and dark, like deep rock, but the purple membrane scintillated in glittering purple, the pattern leaning back in, like crystals peeking out from the cracks of a geode.
Another insult. ]
You're always so full of compliments, my good man. I'd worry it would go to my head, but I find myself particlarly fond of them.
[Beautiful. No one could have guessed at Ardyn's opinion of these changes - Grimm certainly did not, not without the context to know why Ardyn might have taken exception to all things draconic.]
Then I shall continue to provide you with praise, my friend. You were in search of advice?
[ Ardyn's wings tensed slightly, curling at the tips and uncurling with an almost lazy reflex. ]
Yes! They're pleasant things, [ They weren't, but he could handle a white lie. ] but they do take up a lot of room. Yours, however, look remarkably stylish! I was wondering if you could give me some tips.
[ He hadn't really thought of that. Oh, it made sense that learning to fold them wouldn't be something so easily learned -- it was why he had come to Grimm, after all. But perhaps they weren't nearly as flexible as his. Ardyn gave a thoughtful hum. It had a melodic quality to it, very pleasant and almost ringing. ]
Let me see...
[ Slowly, he stretched his wings out as far as they could go. When fully spread, the tips easily brushed against the ceiling, and when he stretched them horizontally, they touched the opposite walls. He gave another of those thoughtful hums, tensing and relaxing them as he moved them. Light scintillated off of the membrane, making the geode illusion glitter like the cosmos. ]
[ He wanted to rip them out of their newly formed sockets. ]
They're... hm. Well, I'm not used to the extra weight, and yet they don't feel unnatural, if that makes sense? It's less like carrying a heavy pack, and more like I had them resting on a shelf for a time, and now I have to re-adjust to holding them myself.
[ His wings tensed slightly; it was a gentle, almost ticklish touch, so it was an involuntary reflex.
What was more noticeable however was the sudden surge of Chroma, as the legendary Sanguis blessing allowed so much to be generated. It wasn't the same as laying with another person, but it was like clasping hands -- all from a gentle stroke. ]
Just a little, [ He said in response to his first query. It made him smile slightly, a wry little hook of his lips. A shame indeed that they were something so hateful, rather than pleasant. ]
And... hm, I'm not sure. It's quite new to me, you see. [ He let his wing press against Grimm's hand again, feeling the Chroma flare. ]
[ Ardyn's lips parted slightly over his clenched teeth, and the sound he gave was more akin to a purr than anything else. The membrane of his wings scintillated under Grimm's touch, the purple rippling as though light caught off the multifaceted form of a crystal. The small claws atop the wings curled in, and Ardyn rolled his shoulders back. ]
What better way to repay your kind tutelage than sharing this bounty, then? [ He looked over his shoulder, and the auriferous gleam of his gaze was intent. ]

How may I be of assistance?

[A sound, as of something leathery unfurling.]
My, ah, new changes have left me in quite the predicament with my own. Might I ask for some tips?
no subject
[And also because wings hot. He's unbiased.]

[he'd wiggle his eyebrows if he had them.]

Don't hold your breath. I'll be right there.
[And it didn't take too long to get from his place to his, and to rap on the door with knuckles considerably more scaly than normal. ]

Come in - my, this is a change.

Adaptability is a fine virtue. And may I say, you wear this splendor well.

[First you need to learn to flap, then you learn to fold.]
I've found stretches to be helpful, for those just acquiring their wings.
no subject
Let me see...
[ Slowly, he stretched his wings out as far as they could go. When fully spread, the tips easily brushed against the ceiling, and when he stretched them horizontally, they touched the opposite walls. How do they seem?
no subject
Promising. With practice, you may be able to fold your wings in some. Though they may be too large to adhere as closely to your body as mine.
[His wings are pretty big, but they're not that big.]
How comfortable are you with them?
no subject
They're... hm. Well, I'm not used to the extra weight, and yet they don't feel unnatural, if that makes sense? It's less like carrying a heavy pack, and more like I had them resting on a shelf for a time, and now I have to re-adjust to holding them myself.
[ Which was infuriating, of course. ]
no subject
[Even without all the hate going on, it's a big adjustment.]
You seem to not have much difficulty moving them, at least.
no subject
[ He smiled, and though it was smug and cheeky, it was a little more genuine than the previous ones. ]
Would you like to touch them?
no subject
[Grimm reaches out to gently stroke the edge of one wing. He has no idea how sensitive the wings are, so it's better to err on the side of delicate.]
no subject

Ah... so that is the case.
no subject
[But that is indeed a great deal of Chroma he feels flooding into him, just from a simple touch.]
Quite efficient at moonlacing, aren't you. Is that a part of your new blessing?
no subject
And... hm, I'm not sure. It's quite new to me, you see. [ He let his wing press against Grimm's hand again, feeling the Chroma flare. ]
I'd be willing to experiment, if you are.
no subject
[Grimm strokes down the length of a wing, more firmly this time.]
And whatever else you desire.
