[Ah, so that was it. Danny considers it for a moment, and Grimm would be forgiven for thinking that Danny is dismissing the offer as he sips his tea, but then he speaks.]

Well... to be perfectly honest, I don't think I've ever been truly given a reason to believe that if a God existed back home, that they would be an exceptionally kind one. Even after knowing people who did believe in a God of some kind, I always thought it was just... an excuse I guess that people used to say and do certain things.

[Gray put himself in the position of God to satisfy his curiosity about how people behave. Rachel wanted a God as a justification for dying by any means other than using her own hands to do it.

... And maybe Danny did it too, on some level, trying to be something close enough to a God for Rachel to look up to, but that didn't work at all.]
